Target and regional scale studies

Exploration planning

Exploration planning is based on knowledge of successful projects and regional ore geology. Special expertise in exploration of Ni-Cu-Co ores.

Ore potential estimation

Ore potential estimation is made 1) based on the existing geodata or 2) by drawing up a plan for obtaining the necessary additional data and making an assessment with comprehensive material. Special expertise in exploration of Ni-Cu-Co ores.

Petrographic studies

The possibilities for chemical analysis of rocks and minerals are now diverse. Unfortunately, this has also often led to minimized petrographic studies. However, traditional microscopic studies with both transmitted and reflective light should be done at each ore site under study. Petrocraphic study can reveal significant ore geological features and it is also important to name the rocks correctly.

Leica DM750P microscope with Leica MC170 HD camera is available.

Lithogeochemistry

Lithogeochemical research is essential in order to elucidate the ore genesis and thereby find ore vectors and indicators for exploration. For almost all ore types, it is possible to find lithogeochemical variables indicating ore potential. Lithogeochemistry is essential in the classification of the ore related rock types. Special expertise in exploration of Ni-Cu-Co ores.

Available are e.g. ioGAS and HSC software.

Ore geological training

Ore geology

The main features of the different ore types are reviewed. The emphasis is on the most important issues from the perspective of mineral exploration. Special expertise in Ni-Cu-Co ores.

Exploration

Exploration philosophy, exploration planning, exploration scales (regional – targeting – targeted) and different stages, exploration methods; plenty of examples of successful exploration projects. Special expertise in Ni-Cu-Co ores.

Value chain of the mining industry

Different steps from exploration planning to mine aftercare.
